Outline of project:
Ricardo Energy & Environment (funded by Innovate UK) worked in partnership with Coventry and Oxford City Councils to address fuel poverty issues and deliver economic benefits. The company’s Energy Signature Analysis Method (ESAM) relates actual energy consumption to various parameters (such as building occupancy, activities and structure) then groups together buildings with similar energy signatures to provide a portfolio segmentation of buildings that are amenable to particular interventions.

This approach is applicable at the city scale and by sharing their data (whilst preserving confidentiality) city authorities and energy suppliers can deliver far more targeted interventions resulting in more valuable outcomes for residents.
